The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has named Lester Crawford Jr., D.V.M., Ph.D., deputy commissioner of FDA. As deputy commissioner, Dr. Crawford will be the senior official at FDA. Dr. Crawford most recently served as head of the Center for Food and Nutrition Policy at Virginia Tech.
